TTL Metering on P67

Recommended Posts

Holding my new (used) Pentax 67 as we speak. Meter seems to work in

Manual mode, but not Auto. I've taken the prism off to check it,

taken the lens off as well. Under the prism is a small groove with a

small brass chain bunched up in it. I'm guessing this chain somehow

inter-links the lens to the prism meter. Is this chain my problem?

One end of the chain dangles free, the other end is attached to a

piece of black plastic which appears to be designed to travel along

the groove? The small piece of plastic is currently tight in the

centre of the groove.

Needless to say, I don't have a copy of the manual.

I'm not sure how old this one is, but the body number is 4192356. My

experiments so far have been with the SMC Pentax 67 1:4 45mm lens.

Any help would be very gratefully appreciated.

Also, what are the best sites for on-line resources regarding Pentax

67?

Regards and TIA,

Hi John,

With a lens attached, the chain tells the prism the aperture setting since it needs since it is lens open measurement in "auto" mode. the brightness is always the same. to keep a long story short 1)the chain is broken or the spring that keeps the chain on tension.

That Chain is only used in auto mode so manual is still OK.

The chain is delicate and the best way to work is to remove the lens before attaching the lens.

Kind regards Gert Jan
