ZX-L body won't meter throuhg 50mm 1.2 lens

My ZX-L body doesn't seem to recognize aperture settings on my 50mm

1.2 MF lens. My K-1000 body works just fine with it, because the

meter isn't all new-fangled and electro-fancy and whatnot. So, I end

up having to hand-meter everything.

 

Is this normal and to be expected?

My 50mm 1.4 reads fine with my ZX-L; sorry I don't have a 1.2 to test it with.

Do you have any other lens to try on the ZX-L to see if the metering works? You could try cleaning the electrical contacts on the lens and ZX-L lens mount.

I used to own pZ1p and with manual aperture lenses (which do not have an "A" setting on the diaphragm ring) the camera would meter but will not display the aperture value in the viewfinder, or LCD display. I wonder if you have the same problem. Do this: mount the lens, press the shutter half-way and record your shutter speed, then change the aperture and see if your shutter speed changes. If it does, then the metering works.

I have the Pentax 50mm f1.2A and have a similar problem with it on my MZ-5N. Whilst it does meter, it seems about a stop out. In fact, this problem is mentioned in the MZ-5N instruction manual as specifically relating to the f1.2 and no other lens. I assume (though I'm not sure what a ZX-L translates as here in the UK) that your camera will be similar. The lens works perfectly on my Super-A and LX.

The 1.2/50mm code is 111*11; all pin contact aren grounded.
