terry_dvorak Posted May 3, 2002 Share Posted May 3, 2002 Imagine using a standard 2"-deep round hood on a wide-angle lens. You'd get vignetting in all four corners, right? So you'd cut away the four corners, little by little, until the vignetting stopped-- perhaps as close as 1/2" out from the front element. Result? A tulip- shaped hood that would keep a lot more sun off the front element than would a hood that was only 1/2" deep all around. <p> .......... dan_woodlief1 Posted June 11, 2002 Share Posted June 11, 2002 Be careful with the tulip hoods too. With my 28-105 lens, the hood sometimes shifts around without my realizing it.
