Good evening,

I am looking for comments from people who have taken this specific workshop. Any feedback on material, appropriateness of the length of the workshop, usefulness of the teaching once you get home, and specifically your opinion on Mr. Bond's teaching skills would be appreciated. I am considering flying across the country for just a weekend, so obviously I want to be careful.

If you haven't taken this specific workshop I would still be interested in hearing about Mr. Bond's teaching skills from your experience.

Thanks for the help!!

I've taken at least three of Howard's workshops including the one of

which you speak. Howard is an excellent teacher and I can honestly say

that my print quality has improved significantly as a direct result.

His teachings are based on a combination of science and common sense.

He is a real gentleman, very constructive in his critiques and as a

bonus, workshoppers who meet at his home get to sample his wife

Margaret's wonderful baking. You will also get to see many prints

hanging throughout his home from Adams to Weston.

I've taken three courses-View camera,Zone system and printing. Howard

is a no nonsense person and a real gentleman. All his information is

first hand. He has been there, done that. An excellent teacher. To

see the photographs in his house alone is worth the price of

admission to say nothing of Margaret's cookies!

I just took Howard's Zone System Workshop this weekend so I can't

speak of his printing workshop -- yet. If this workshop is any

indication of his skill as a teacher then I am very impressed. He is

articulate, humble, funny, precise, and generous. He will try

to answer almost any question to the best of his ability regardless if

it is on topic or not.

To see the prints hanging on his wall plus Howard's own exquisite

prints as well were worth the price of admission. I've always read

and seen reproductions of some of those prints but have never seen

them in person so I was obviously overwhelmed. Your mileage may vary.

As one poster said, he's truly been there, done that, and is still at

it.

My wife and I both took two classes in Colorado. Both came into them

feeling that we knew a lot, and found out a lot we didn't! Howard's

dry sense of humor was fun, particularly relative to out mutual

friend (not), Fred Picker, with whom Howard had interesting (heated)

discussions in (I think) Camera and Darkroom.

He has since assisted me with many things by phone. We were fortunate

to be able to purchase several of his prints (workshop attendees are

offered really good deals, if you're a collector) which we continue to

enjoy in our home. We hang him with Brett Weston, Lucien Clergue, and

Philippe(?)Halsman, and feel he's as good as.

Hope you enjoy your experience.
