alan_stokes
The lens hood designed for the 50mm f2.8 Elmar (new type) is an E39 screw thread. Since this hood would also fit a 50mm Summicron and is a much smaller design than the plastic 12536 version I have, it would seem to be a good alternative. Has anyone tried this hood on a Summicron and would there be any problems with vignetting etc?
john_collier
No problems with vignetting but it will only offer a bare minimum of protection. My favourite hood for the 50/2 is the 12585 which offers good protection against side light and reverses for storage (you also need a 14033). <p> Cheers
msitaraman
The lens hood (rectangular) for the 35mm Summicron Asph. also fits the 50 Summicron (next to latest version, without built-in hood) very well (though it slides around a bit) and serves to keep fingers off the front elements. Small compact and best of all, the lens cap fits on the hood.
