andrew_funderburg
Hi all, I made a web page of where I shop for camera gear in Japan. I've been living here for 8 years and have bought a few thousand dollars worth of gear without a probleem. http://homepage.mac.com/fundy hit "photography"then "Shopping in Japan" Good luck, andrew

chip l.
Good info there Andrew. Interesting when looking at the current pricing on some items. For example the 12-24DX is only about $100 less than the USA warranty version, And the pricing on a used F100 is not that much different than what one could find locally. I point this out since so many think that they will get the bargain of the century by buying Japan.
andrew_funderburg
Yes that's true. When coming from the US, you don't save that much, except if you really find a deal on a used lens, or if you buy a really big ticket item. You definitely don't want to take a trip here just to buy camera gear if you are from the US. But people from Europe can probably buy a good body, a lens or two and a plane ticket to Japan, for the price of a good body and a good lens in Europe. Also, a lot of people living here in Japan really don't know where to get the best deals, so I thought I would share what I know. Andrew
