EOS A2 shutter release

Does anyone have any suggestion as to an alternative to purchasing the Canon trigger release that plugs into the side of the camera. I read in a recent issue of Photo magazine that you can build this gadget to release the shutter. Has anyone tried it yet on an EOS? And will touching the two contacts together in this port just simply trigger the shutter?

The "T3" socket on your EOS A2 has three points to connect:

shorting two of them is the same a pressing the shutter button

halfway

(shorting the wrong pair does nothing)

shorting all three releases the shutter

Your biggest problem will be to obtain a "T3" plug. They are

available only by "canabalizing" T3 accessories... you might as well

just pay the $35 and buy an RS-60T3 remote switch.

You can easily build a remote switch for the Elan II, Rebel X

and Rebel G, but they use a much simpler 2.5mm coaxial plug (stereo

headphone style).

Bob's right about Dave being right. The romote is well worth the price

and a gadet that will not pay any great reward by making one at home.

Also, the remote switch very nicely reproduces the two-step shutter

release and has that lovely bulb lock. Buy it and then get back to

worrying about composition and color temperature of street lamps--the

important stuff.
