hjoseph7
Can someone please explain to me what is a Symmetric power pack and what is an Asymmetric Power Pack ? I have a Norman P800D power pack in my closet that has been collecting dust for the longest. The Manual for this PP states that it can handle both Symmetric and Asymmetric lighting arrangements ? q.g._de_bakker
Symmetruc means each head attached gets an equal amount of energy, so their outputs are equal. Asymmetric means that one or more heads gets more than others.
q.g._de_bakker
Usually the heads aren't arranged round the subject such thst their distances to the subject are equal. And they often do not have the same light shapers (reflector, umbrella, diffusor, etc.) attached. So they will not put equal amounts of light on the subject even if they get equal amounts from the power pack. You could change distance to subject to control the amount one head contributes, but that will also change the characteristic of the light. Stiil, asymmetric distribution is a nice thing to have.
