Reflected Rose

I like the light against the dark. Could you try a shot with the rose in focus? My old eyesight is not good and I have difficulty looking at the picture as it is. The shot has drama and is worth further effort, I could see it framed on a wall. Others here who know much more than I about technical aspects will offer better advice but well done for the experiment.

Don't know what camera you're using (SLR, P\S, whatever, etc.), if its got a good zoom capability, try the experiment again but use that zoom capability to bring the elements (jewelry box and reflective surface) into focus (try different distances) and see what happens. As Charles says, shots like this can be dramatic, but to realize that drama good focus is essential.

I'm assuming it was something of a conscious experiment. That leads me to believe, for the moment, that the focusing was intentional. If it was not, fine, perhaps just a mistake. But I don't think it's beyond the pale to consider a more out-of-focus impressionistic or dreamy-eyed photo of a rose and reflection. Though I don't think it was executed terribly well, the idea of the fractured reflected flares being so sharp against the out-of-focus, hand-made rose adaptation which is, to begin with, anything but organic, has a lot of potential photographically. And all this reflected I think has even more potential with creative handling and post processing. In a sense, the photo suggests that dazzle as much as or more than rose is the subject here, and that the effects of a lens can be as expressive as the petals of a rose. I think it's worth pursuing ... in your own voice. I wouldn't necessarily be considering what's prototypical of "good" photography.

All that can be assumed is that the camera being used doesnt do reflective surfaces well, the focus method was insufficient, the sensor was beyond its useful capabilities in terms of resolution and ISO noise.

But otherwise the idea is not a bad one, but it requries changes.. and perhaps most of all a change in light
