Glenn McCreery
There are no rules as to how you apply your post processing to this image; but, please let us know what you have done so we can all learn. If you would like to post a candidate image next week, please ensure it is of sufficiently high resolution for manipulation by the participants (3000px on the long side, 300dpi for example). Most of all, let's have fun while we are learning or demonstrating how we use our post-processing software, imaginations and interpretations. This is an abandoned beach house at Coal Oil Point, Isla Vista, California
tom_r
Very cool photo, Glenn! I discovered it's rather well-known in the area. Every photo I found on the internet has different art. I used Topaz Gigapixel x6 and downsized to OP (sometimes gives the illusion of more resolution), tried out a new sharpening plugin APF-R, white balanced and raised the highlights and exposure a tad in ACR. (APF-R absolute point of focus, is an astrophotography plugin that has been enhanced to work on daylight scenes also. Requires Photoshop 22+)
Glenn McCreery
Tom - thanks for the link on the history of the beach house, A.K.A. "the Jailhose", as well as a heads up on the Photoshop plugin, AFP-R, which looks quite useful. Every time that I have hiked out to Coal Oil Point to photograph seascapes, birds, and surfers the artwork on the beach house has changed, and it's often of top quality. I think that students in the UCSB Art Department have something to do with that. I took this photo just yesterday while visiting family in Goleta.
Leslie Reid
This was mostly Photoshop: selections, adjustment layers (contrast, posterization, and hue shifts), acrobatics, cloning. Then to Lightroom for general brightness and texture adjustments. On a whim, I took it back to PS and removed the protagonist's shadows to cast a bit of ambiguity onto his reality (a bit ironic after the work it took to add shadows last week). I had to put the shadows back around his feet, though, because otherwise he looked a bit too glued-on.
