Post Processing Challenge Oct. 23, 2021

There are no rules as to how you apply your post processing to this image; but, please let us know what you have done so we can all learn.

If you would like to post a candidate image next week, please ensure it is of sufficiently high resolution for manipulation by the participants (3000px on the long side, 300dpi for example).

Most of all, let's have fun while we are learning or demonstrating how we use our post-processing software, imaginations and interpretations.

I'm still not sure what to make of this.

Quick one from me (cropped, levels & curves and colored).\Just from browsing the internet, the motif of cats and mice (or rats) seems to recur in the Catholic Church in the (British) middle-ages but with different interpretations. I've not found a similar photo to this one by anyone else. Just out of curiosity, I'd be interested to learn at which Church you took the photo. FWIW, at the largest local Church near me there's a 'secret' mouse running up a nun's robe in a statue. It's only visible from one specific spot in the Church. I immediately thought of replacing the cat's face with that of Yodo from Star Wars but I don't have the time. I still want to post my response to last week's challenge!

Maybe it’s a riff on lions laying down with lambs?

Anyway, the cat looked uncomfortable, so I moved her onto the cushion with the help of Photoshop (which involved a lot of cloning to reconstruct the background after I’d selected the cat and moved her onto her own layer). I also paneled the back wall (borrowed from the upper back of the seat, rotated 90 degrees). I think there were about 8 layers by the time I finished (5 selection layers with masks, a brightness adjustment layer for the combined panelling layer, and a cloning layer, plus the original). Then in Lightroom I added shading with multiple adjustment brushes to try to make the cat actually look like she was sitting where I’d placed her.

Mike, from my recollection it was St. Martin's Cathedral in Bratislava. It was 2007 so.....

Did a content aware fill of the very bright area, hand dodge and burn, threshold layer, and multiply blend with original image.

A true test, Punta!

Started in PSE2020 by cropping somewhat drastically resulting in a square format; cleaned up annoying elements with spot healing brush; applied impressionist tool for effect. Converted to b&w and increased structure using Silver Efex. Returned to PSE for tonal and sharpness adjustments.

Not quite sure where I was going with this one, but I wanted to add a dog sitting on the chair, as inspired by Leslie's version.
