Gerald Cafferty
Is just me or are others having problems uploading photos to forums?
Sandy Vongries
Most likely not just you, but this just now.
John Seaman
I uploaded eight pictures to the CMC forum earlier. Seven went on with no problems. One gave me the "file too large" message, but uploaded successfully at the second attempt.
JDMvW
I occasionally get the "file too large" message too, but usually a second trial (often by a different approach like dragging the image) seems to work. My superstition seems to indicate that this happens when I try to upload too soon after making the smaller image? Sanford
It takes a few tries sometimes but what doesn't these days.
Gerald Cafferty
Hi, thanks for the response. I've just checked my internet connection, download speed is a bit higher than usual @ 54Mbps but upload is slower than usual @ 1.0Mbps. I'll reboot the router and see if things settle down. glen_h
I only today got the "file too big", and then it worked on the second try. After being reminded about keeping files smaller, I try not to upload the full 3MB or 5MB or so files, but even when I did, I never got that message. (The upload link says up to 1GB, but I never tried that.) I do sometimes get the message about waiting longer, but if I try again, it usually goes through. -- glen
HarryBaker
I've been getting the 'too large' message quite a bit recently although it usually loads up after 2 or 3 attempts. But for years I naver saw this message so something might have changed.
Sandy Vongries
Encountered it twice this morning, with rather small files. The second try did the trick in both cases. No idea what the issue might be.
Gerald Cafferty
After spending over two hours exchanging messages with my Internet provider they must have flicked a switch. This is the photo I was trying to upload, I hope someone thinks it was worthwhile.:)
Tony Parsons
Like the image. Brings back memories of a long day out on her for a pelagic birdwatching trip in 1993 - a most enjoyable day. Just loved the burgers and the greasy fried onions !
Tony Parsons
New variation on the theme - had the 'Image too large' message before I had even selected or attempted to download a file !
Sanford
I still get that on the first try, maybe half the time. I tried changing the upload size from 1000 to 999 and thought I was on to something, but same old story. Maybe I'll try 998.
Sandy Vongries
Very odd - I have gotten the Too Large message 2 or 3 times on downsized files, then been able to upload the full version. In my case, it has always worked after a few tries, so simply an inconvenience. Hopefully it will be a short term issue.
samstevens
Maybe I'll try 998. Why, because the earth is flat? 1 "You talkin' to me?"

samstevens
Now, I'm not one to defend the site or the way it's programmed and run, and I won't do so here. But I am one for proportionality, or at least I try to be. In the scheme of things, just how awful is it to encounter an error message that usually disappears after one try and has virtually no ill effect on our ability to post photos? It's not quite up to par with non-renewed operating certificates, emails not functioning, temporary disappearance of portfolios, or even with inaccurate view counts, all of which we've experienced ... and more. Again, I tend to err on the side of pessimism when it comes to the current state of PN and its future, but in this case ... Tony Parsons
For myself, it is not 'awful' that there are a few minor issues, which, as you say @samstevens, have no ill-effect. My main purpose for occasionally drawing attention to these trifling anomalies is to let others know that they happen, frequently site-wide, and do not indicate a problem, either with their computer equipment or their membership. My attitude is more in line with that of the Bowl of Petunias : 'Oh, no, not again.'
Sanford
I'm more concerned when my "team of medical professionals" constantly keeps getting things screwed up.
