Good day everyone! Its Canon Thursday again and I am inviting you to share up to 3 of your favorite photos taken with Canon gear. Please ensure that each of your photos has a maximum of 1000 pixels along its longest edge.

You are encouraged to tell us a little about your photos as you post them such as: Where were your photos taken? Were there any interesting challenges you faced to get the shot? Do you have any post processing techniques that you would like to share? Do you have any other comments about your photos that you would like to share?

Here is my first photo taken at Monmouth Battlefield State Park in Manalapan, NJ. I took this in mid-afternoon with the sun casting these shadows through a metal overhang onto the visitor’s center curved exterior vertical wood siding. The siding is worn, bleached out in some areas while retaining some color in others. I needed to increase the contrast and pull the colors out of the wood. I almost walked away from this photo and only stopped to consider it as I was leaving the park.

As always, I look forward to enjoying your contributions this week!

My best wishes to all my PN friends!

Hello again. My second photo was taken recently in Freehold, NJ as I walked around town doing my best impression of a street photographer. The original photo had some elements behind the clock and next to the bushes that I did not care for. I use Adobe Photoshop CC. I created a layer to let me clear the wall of 3 windows, some electrical conduit and lights which detracted from the clock. I also wanted to convert the photo to black and white while retaining the colors on the clock. I created a layer to retain the clock in color and saved it separately. I then created a black and white layer. Finally I brought the clock back in and erased the green bushes in front of the clock base exposing the black and white bushes in front of the clock base. OK, I had some fun but I can't help but think that I could have found a better way to get to the final result.

What do you think?

Ok, this last photo is one of many from a cross country race. I had a very unique position at the start of this race from which I could get a good perspective of the runners as they started the race. There were a couple of holes in the race course about 75 yards from the starting line which were about a foot deep and created a hazard to the runners. The holes were well marked with stakes and bright tape to make sure that the runners went around them. I walked out on the course and stood in one of the holes to get my shots. As the race started, I had runners running by me on my right and left. Then I had to run after the start to get into position for shots around the course and the finish line. It was a fun day.

I like that first photo especially, Mickey. Interesting. For your second photo, I am so ignorant of Photoshop techniques like masks and layers that if I need to do anything with those, I follow tutorials step by step. I use Lightroom 99.99% of the time!

I took the 5D.3 for a drive today with the 85mm f/1.8. I wish I would have taken the 70-200. I may go back to that park with that zoom soon to get some close-ups of the feathered fowl!

I need to get back to upload my files. I'm getting an error that the files are too large. Maybe that's why no one else has posted anything?

Although it is part of Creative Cloud, I have never used Lightroom! I perform almost all of my post in Camera Raw and then use Photoshop for minor touchup, or when I work with layers, masks, filters. I've used Camera Raw and Photoshop for black and white conversions. I'm getting much more picky on things like profiles, white balance/temperature, and more I also use tutorials and videos to help me with edit techniques. I really should start using Lightroom too.

Canon EOS RP / Canon 24-70mm 2.8 Grandson wondering what grandpa is up to. I watched a video with a portrait photographer testing out her new R series cameras; (R, RP, R5 and R6). She said for her the R5 produced the best portrait files, no surprise there, but she said for her the RP produced the next best files.

Is there a difference? I always used to find the same things in camera raw as in LR Develop-module?

I use LR as a database for my images and I touch up there and go directly to PS. I sometimes use the print-module, rarely the map, slideshow and web module. Never used the book module. Have uploaded to adobe stock through lightroom though.

I wish it had automatic keywording though.

I have read that Camera Raw is the same in Lightroom and Photoshop.
