Matt Laur
Note: In the interests of balancing performance and quality, the topic of image file size and dimensions as normally posted to this recurring thread is under discussion elsewhere in the Nikon forum (the topic is obvious when you look) - please check in there and comment if you have thoughts to share! That's the best place to talk about that particular topic. For now, consider keeping uploads no larger than 1600 pixels on the long side when it matters, and sticking with 1000 pixels when the image feels no pain at that resolution. On data size/compression, try to keep things under 1mb, shooting for 600kb when you can stop there. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc). Are you new to this thread? The general guidelines for these Wednesday threads are right here: http://www.photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00W7km. For now, we're sticking with 1, 2, or 3 images per week as you see fit. Just barely hanging onto the Nikon-ness of this week's Nikon Wednesday! This is a video frame grab from a project I'm working on with one of my favorite clients. Yeah, it's a full frame Sony video camera. But there's an adapter in play, so I can use F-mount lenses! That's Nikon-y enough, right? The ol' 24-70/2.8 was a better choice here than the normal Sony f/4 run-and-gun lens that's usually on that video camera. So don't be afraid of a video frame grab, is my point. I know, I know "PHOTO"-net, not "VIDEO"-net, but in my world these days, there is just about zero distinction between those two things. One way or another, share some pixels that make a picture!

Sanford
As the story goes, the two founders of modern Cannery Row commissioned sculptor Steven Whyte to create a statue of famous people from the history of Cannery Row. John Steinbeck, Ed Rickets, and...themselves? One million dollars! D300, 50mm Nikkor. Edited September 29, 2021 by Sanford
