Well, I did threaten some more airshow shots. I'll try to move on next week, I promise. In the meantime, some more Nikon Wednesday time roaring through the air, and hope for everyone else to share some images. Go!

A surprise showed up on the opposite shore. I was actually hoping to get both the deer and the diver in the same picture, but as soon as the diver showed up, the deer leaped into the forest. D850, 300/2.8, f/4, 1/400 s, ISO 3600.

Testing new lens in the swamp. I had a small pillow (about 2 cm high) under the camera, it was hard to see anything from the back LCD because it doesn't tilt for verticals and I wasn't willing to lie on my stomach in the watery swamp. I was however able to estimate where to put the camera based on horizontal shots. The autofocus worked quite well for close-ups with high contrast details like sundew.

Z6II + 105 MC at f/6.3, 1/125s, ISO 280.

This is from the same camera position (to within 1 meter), but about 30 cm higher from the ground. I've tried this shot many times earlier in higher contrast lighting but this time the softer light turned out an advantage as there is enough of rim lighting from the sun to separate the bird and splashes from the background, but the forest doesn't go completely dark like it would have if it had been full-on sunlight without clouds. D850, MB-D18, EN--EL18a, 300mm, f/2.8, 1/1600s, ISO 1600.
