Y2K QD died

I am the user of EOS5E (Ellan IIe). In the Y2K eve, the date displayed on the QD clock of the camera changed from 12 31 1999 to 1 1 1994. I had tried to reset the clock manually. Unfortunely, few seconds after the year reached 2000, the clock returned to 1 1 1994 again. Thereafter, the display on the clock was froze at 1 1 1994 and had no responses to the set buttons. The mode of display also cannot be changed again. I then tried to remove the battery of the clock for a moment but the clock was still froze. EOS friend, please give me a help. Thank you very much.

Looks like the clock does not function. Does it still imprint the

correct date, if any. Although, you can't set it now, this may be a

moot point.

I would not chaulk this up to Y2K, but a simple malfunction. The QD is

supposed to perform to 2039 or something (at least on my EOS5).

Send it to your nearest Canon repair facility and have it fixed. Or,

don't use the date function to clutter up your already small 35mm

frame. Instead, write down the date on the fold that contains all the

photos, you can also add a bunch of other information besides the

date.

It couldn't possibly be a Y2K problem.
