Post Processing Challenge, May 29, 2021

There are no rules as to how you apply your post processing to this image; but, please let us know what you have done so we can all learn.

If you would like to post a candidate image next week, please ensure it is of sufficiently high resolution for manipulation by the participants (3000px on the long side, 300dpi for example).

 

Most of all, let's have fun while we are learning or demonstrating how we use our post-processing software, imaginations and interpretations.

 

I think that the bug on the apple is a mayfly.

Great image Glenn. Thanx for posting and the groaner. If it flies and it's May, it must be a Mayfly.

 

But, insects are supposed to have 6 legs and this one has only 5. In LR I cropped and adjusted the whites and blacks in the cropped bit, copied the layer, flipped it horizontally and moved it to reveal the missing leg, and then used a layer mask and blend modes to erase all but that leg. Put a border on it, and exported.

 

Is it just me? I feel we literally have hit the bottom of the barrel with the challenges.

IMHO, I found this to be a good image for the challenge.

Excellent change of pace, Glenn! All work in PSE2020. Cropped from top and bottom to obtain a (semi-) square format. Used levels for tonal adjustments. Sharpened. Applied sponge filter. Used sponge tool to boost colors in fly's body.

Apologies to all! If you know anything about biorhythms (psuedo-science tracking of one's emotional, physical and intellectual states), based on mine for yesterday (representative photo included) I should not have gotten out of bed, much less posted on a public forum. Maybe this will make comparing apples and oranges a little easier. In PS, I used 2 hue/saturation layers and masked the oranges or apples according to the adjustment made.

 

Either that or the Mayfly has had an odd effect on Glenn's fruit.

 

Two more reasons to call it a Mayfly: it has permission to fly (i.e. it may fly) or there is a possibility that it might take wing (i.e. it may fly). No wonder learning a new language is tough!

 

This version went through some cloning, painting, sketching, grain addition, hue adjustments, sharpening and combination with an earlier version. Glenn, thank you for uploading.
