JDMvW
The director of the restoration of the Sistine Chapel frescos, Gianluigi Colalucci, died recently. What images of mural and or fresco painting do you have? No picnics please... Even with a fast f/1.2 lens and GAF 500 slide film (can you spell grain?), it was not easy back in the old days (1973). Pre-restoration, of course. Hand-held.

JDM, how I wish that I'd be able to visit this amazing structure and also that I was able to photgraph it. At this point in my life, there are several obstacles in my way. Sigh . . . FWIW, I'm quite impressed by your image, especially since it was taken handheld. glen_h
OK, I will have to find them. I haven't scanned them yet. As well as I remember, you weren't supposed to take pictures, and handheld would have had too much movement. I think I did one by setting the camera down on a bench, pointing up, to minimize movement, and also make it not so obvious. -- glen
JDMvW
When I was there, I was fortunate enough to hit a period when photos (but no tripods) were allowed. It was pretty dark:eek: Other murals and such-like are perfectly apt for this thread, of course
glen_h
My first slide imaged with an ES-1, which is attached to a D700 with AI 55/2.8 lens. Also my first try doing an image search in Google, which you put in the image and it tells you what it is. It seems to be this one: Santuario della Beata Vergine del Rosario di Pompei Otherwise, it is an Ektachrome slide from an FM and AI 35/2.0 lens. -- glen
glen_h
Since I had the picture, I also uploaded it to Wikimedia so it can be used on Wikipedia pages. Now, where is that Sistine Chapel picture ... -- glen
glen_h
OK, finally found them. I know it is Ektachrome, but not which one. I might have had a roll of 400 and carefully timed it for this. -- glen
httpwww.photo.netbarry
I posted this on another thread, but I think this actually was a fresco. . .
