Matt Laur
Important: please keep your image under 1000 pixels on the longest side for in-line viewing, and please keep the FILE SIZE UNDER 300kb. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc). Are you new to this thread? The general guidelines for these Wednesday threads are right here:http://www.photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00W7km. This forum's moderators are allowing up to three Nikon Wednesday images per week, so share some work! There's nothing like a project that forces you to re-evaluate your lens collection. Here are two screen shots from some video (shot on a Nikon Z6) wherein we're wrestling with how to capture something that's being projected into the subject's eye for what seems - to the subject - to be infinity focus. Worse, the image is rendered in a cone that works great for the human eye, but is terrible for videographers! Ironically, something like an iPhone's camera is almost better suited for this because of the nearly infinite DoF. It's a challenging problem. Focus distance has to be right up close, and yet FoV is tricky. I thought a macro lens was the ticket, but actually had better luck with my venerable Nikon 14-24/2.8, stopped down some. With video, we can rack focus over time to avoid needing to get the eye and the projection simultaneously in focus. It's always something! Got any tricky optical challenges for this Nikon Wednesday? Share some photos!

ShunCheung
Spring has arrived. The Pride of Madeira flowers (a native of the Portuguese Madeira Island in the Atlantic) are blooming in California, and the birds are taking full advantage. I am not a good speller, but in the past I typically had no trouble with "Madeira." However, this year somehow I have the tendency to type Pride of Moderna. Top image, Nikon Z6 with 24-70mm/f2.8 S lens. Middle image: golden-crowned sparrow, and bottom image: Anna's hummingbird, both with the 500mm PF Nikkor lens.
