Canon RF to Nikon Z adaptor?

Just curious, but what does mirrorless bring to the table that your D850 doesn't?

I love my D850, although to be fair, the 'old' 28mm f3.5 PC, isn't great with full shift. Now with the 85mm T&S PC it's just peachy.

I'd be inclined to wait for the Z8/9 and an adapter.....4mm diff is easy to accommodate, I'm surprised it doesn't exist already.

Well, for architecture, not a lot. The ability to set your focus point anywhere is quite nice though not essential. The option to use other brands via adapters is potentially cool too.

My other niche is education. From an equipment standpoint, it’s about as demanding as street photography. I love what I’m hearing about the 1.2 primes from the Z system. The ability to shoot silently or very quietly is great. The ability to see your final exposure in the EVF is helpful. And most importantly, my D800’s buffer is ridiculous. I literally can’t shoot in 14 bit and knock off more than like 3 images. So actually I’m replacing that camera and not the D850.

The option to use other brands via adapters is potentially cool too.

Sony's E mount mirrorless system has been around for years, but it's only recently that adapters to control other brands' electronic lenses - such as Canon's EF system - have become available at a reasonable price.

It might be another year or two down the line before such adapters surface for the Z mount, which doesn't appear to have had much popular uptake so far.

It's not just that but the lens the OP wants to consider adapting to Z doesn't exist; would you start a business making adapters for hypothetical lenses and scenarios? Neither Z or RF mounts have much in terms of installed lens base and an adapter manufacturer is likely to focus on common needs i.e. adapting between mounts with a lot of lenses and a lot of users.

Oooo, I'm back....:p

Physically yes, although how many, or how few, people want to put an RF lens on a Z body may prevent it being economical at the moment. The large Nikon throat diameter helps structurally and the 4mm flange difference makes it possible without added optics.

5/6ths of the way down this linked page is your answer...;)
