Special thanks to Shun for starting this thread up last week, as I was hip deep on location with a client for a few days of shooting obscure hardware that only they and their few customers can truly appreciate. Here's an example, which I'm hoping will be joined by a Nikon Wednesday full of everyone else's own obscurities. Share some photos!

What are those?
I should probably wait a while for some more guesses, but.....

The first is a hand anvil for forming the ends and bends of steel eaves gutters. It was given to me long ago by a sculptor friend who also did not know what it was, but thought it a nice shape. It remained a mystery until I bought a place with a barn and saw this:

The second is the constant velocity universal joint from a sheep shearing machine.

Thanks Matthew - never would have guessed the first one (even though at my father's workplace) there had been a forge with all kinds of weirdly shaped tools.

I was thinking about sheep shearing with regards to the second item - but only because you mentioned Australians and New Zealanders, not because I recognized the device.

Still wondering what Matt's mysterious device is. Looks like some kind of helmet display system.

Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge last Sunday evening. It was chilly (about minus 8C) and windy that made my fingers ache and clumsy even with gloves on. Only a few people were there having some chill fun. With Nikon D7200 and 28mm f2 AI lens.
