John Peri
There seems to be something wrong and the message here is that the owners of photo.net are unwilling to support this community. I have learned in life to regret what I do not have and yet remain very grateful for what I do. However challenging at times, there is still a lot of benefit to be derived from PN and many of us continue to do so.
samstevens
Two things can be true at once. There is much benefit to PN and the owners are unwilling to adequately support the community. Stating the latter doesn't preclude appreciating the former. "You talkin' to me?"
Sandy Vongries
All I can suggest is the #1 hit of 1945 by Johnny Mercer - won an Academy Award . Accentuate the Positive "You've got to accentuate the positive Eliminate the negative And latch on to the affirmative Don't mess with mister in-between" We've got what we've got - more good than ill, IMO.
samstevens
Truth isn't always positive. Nevertheless, it's good to get it right ... Accentuate the Positive (written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer), was nominated for the 1945 Academy Award. It Might As Well Be Spring (Rodgers and Hammerstein), won it in 1945. The very next year, 1946, Johnny Mercer did win the Academy Award, along with Harry Warren, for On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe. And he didn't stop there, going on to many more nominations and three additional wins: With Hoagy Carmichael for In the Cool Cool Cool of the Evening in 1951. With Henry Mancini for Moon River in 1961. With Henry Mancini for Days of Wine and Roses in 1962. "You talkin' to me?"
samstevens
And it doesn't take anything away from Mercer to say that Hammerstein, in his winning song of '45, sure could turn a phrase ... But I feel so gay, In a melancholy way, That it might as well be spring. Kind of glass half full and half empty at the same time! [it might as well be PN.] :) "You talkin' to me?" John Peri
I was just reading Marcus Aurelius which I haven't picked up since schooldays (read "lockdown")! In chapter V11, verse 27 he writes .. “Think not so much of what thou hast not as of what thou hast, and reflect on how eagerly they would be sought if though hadst them not”.
