What camera(s) are you using this weekend?

I will be using a Nikon FG and a Nikon FG. I have a black body FG that I bought a few weeks ago and a chrome one I bought yesterday. I will keep one and sell the other, but I wanted to use them at least once before selling one of them. I bought the chrome one yesterday at a flea market along with a Minolta X-700 for $20. The X-700 has a shutter problem, but it had a 50mm f1.4 MD lens on it, so I'm not too disappointed. I will use the lens on my good X-700.

 

I used a Nikon FG yesterday and today. Shot most of a roll of Kodak Colorplus 200 in my example. My example is a black one.

I still have film in the black body Fg, but just finished an expired (1996) roll of Kodak Royal Gold 100 in the chrome one. This morning, I found another black FG at the same flea market. The film reminder on the camera back had the box end from a roll of Kodacolor VR400, so there is a good chance the camera had not seen use in 30+ years. Surprisingly, the battery still provided enough power for the camera. I tested it with new batteries and it seems to work fine. It will need new light seals along with the other two.

The 28mm focal length is kind of stretching it when using a Leica with a 0.72 magnification finder. 35mm is really the sweet spot for that finder.

However, with practice it works - and I decided to get some practice this weekend.

 

I like this Voigtländer Ultron 28/2.0 a lot, but it does not seem to get much love on the internet. As with several of Voigtländer's lenses, this is designed for use with film, and I suspect the haters refers to results made on digital. The same can be said of the first Nokton 35mm/1.4, which I favour over my much more valuable Summicron 35mm.

Actually almost finished with the film in this camera.

I think Konica started making this model in the early 70's. When we opened our family camera shop in 1974 this model was still available and we sold a fair number to those who wanted to spend less than the C-35 Automatic. One nice feature that this model has- if battery dies or is missing set camera for flash and shutter is at 1/25 second, but apertures may be selected manually. Exposure lock by pressing shutter release part way. I didn't have a zinc air cell handy to power it so I used a silver oxide. I could tell from display that this would lead to underexposure so used the exposure lock to lock in on exposure that was closer to what was right for ISO 100.

As usual I couldn't decide which camera to use.. I was going to shoot the Exa...with the 35mm Flektogan...but thought if I don't finish the roll.. the shutter needs some warm-up time.. I would lose frames if I don'T finish the roll. . So I reached up in to the void and the Yashica Lynx 5000 came in my hand. I determined the batteries were dead and ..not that I needed the meter.. but it verfied my theory the brass "adapter drains the batteries. Then I went for the Yashica FX2 thinking it had the ML 28mm lens on it... no it had the the"planar type" ML 1.7 ..that meant the FXD had the 28mm.. but no strap. Swapped the lenses and out I went 20 frames and wet feet.. I did shoot the whole roll

Meh, both the roll and plates shot with the Dallmeyer Reflex and the H.Martin Travel Camera were a bust, due to a light leak and the glass plates turning out to be spectro-analysis plates sensitized for UV-blue.

 

At least the roll of APX100 from the Olympus Trip 35 came out fine.

 

No idea what to load up for next week. Maybe I'll shoot some sheet film with my Anniversary Speed Graphic.

I had a light leak in the Canon 7 and it got new seals this past week. A test roll is in order before I get too carried away with anything "important". I think I'll load a roll of Delta 100 and shoot some with the Jupiter 8 so I can compare with the 50 f2 Sonnar I've been shooting with lately. The one is a copy of the other after all.

Shot a few images in the XTSI with the 28mm f 2.8 AF (pictured 2 images back) and then switched to Maxxum 35-70 f 4. This delightfully compact zoom has a constant maximum aperture and manually operated close focus. Conventional optical construction except for one aspherical element. I hope to finish the film up over the weekend.

Just finished a test roll of Fujicolor Superia 400 in a new to me Agfa Super Solinette. I'll probably finish a roll of Ektar 100 that I started a week ago in my Agfa Record III. Then, since I don't do darkroom work, I'm going to try a different lab that seems to offer a little cheaper and faster service.

Only filled up half the roll in the Red PEN so far. We did get 20cm of snow over the weekend. And it's still freezing out there.

Might get to go ice-skating this upcoming weekend. Or at least take pictures of it.

 

I don't think the J.Lane Dry Plates I ordered will arrive in time for the weekend but if they do I'll feed them through my travel camera and Dallmeyer Reflex, with the proper plate holders.

OK, I found the Certo Dolly which uses 127 film, the bellows look good, and film is loaded.

 

It seems that they originally came with a mask so you could get 16 shots on a roll,

but it didn't come with that. Also, one of the red windows is taped over.

 

So, with a roll of VP127, I hope to try it this weekend.

Well, there is forecast for snow on Friday and maybe Saturday,

but hopefully I can find something.

 

Otherwise, the film from the Beseler Auto 100 and the Fed 2 came out.

Some from the Auto 100 seem overexposed, so either I go the exposure wrong, or the

shutter is slow. Maybe both. It was cloudy, but I might have over compensated.

 

Are we supposed to post both pictures of cameras and taken with cameras?

Bored with lock downs and never having tried a Barnack Leica, I put in a low bid on a 1955 Leica IIIf and won - much to my wife's dismay.

I received it today.

It is quite dry and in dire need of an overhaul, but with exercise things starts to come to life. I think I will run a roll through this weekend before sending it in for service. The film canister was in the camera "Sakura Film Konipan SS" and may reflect when the camera was last in use.

Picked up this big and battered but smoothly operating Fujica GL690 with a 100mm f3.5 Fujinon (shown next to my Leica M2 for scale). Put a roll of T-Max through it — love the big 6x9 negatives!

I have the same GL690, almost equally battered. Heavy but beautiful negatives - I love it and should use it more.

It has one design quirk, you may already know, but I wish I knew earlier: While the film forwarding lever allows incremental strokes to forward the film, you MUST make at least one full stroke, or the shutter won't cock and the camera jams. If it happens you'll have to remove the lens and cock the leafshutter manually.
