luca_dicecco
This lens has nice glass for the most part but at the edges are these sparkly little motes - they don't seem to move and I'm wondering if they are the beginnings of a haze or issue with coating. Anyone seen before? Thanks! L Edited January 15, 2021 by luca_dicecco
John Crowe
Seems to consistent for just dust or even fungus. Could be coating, or "schneideritis", or separation. If it is mostly to the perimeter of the lens it will have little to no effect. It could take many years to spread across the lens and even then it may only reduce contrast slightly. JDMvW
As John Crowe says.... If it is fungus, it could be slightly more serious, but still no effect for a long time, probably. I've never had much luck so far as I could tell, but people say exposure to UV-A (which apparently does penetrate glass) could kill the spores, but of course, not remove the spots. Robin Smith
Stop looking at them and just use the lens. It’s probably dust that has accumulated over the years inside. If you look carefully for dust in most lenses you can usually find it. Robin Smith
