mike_sowsun
I finally found a GR-E1 grip but I had to buy an EOS-1 with a BC error for $39.9 USD plus $29.99 USD shipping to get it. It actually turned out okay because I was able to get the EOS-1 working by using the Mirror Magnet tap trick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=https://youtu.be/94q-Y7mspAU?t=519 Now I have the complete collection of grips: Edited January 10, 2021 by mike_sowsun

JDMvW
The only one I've had the problem with is my FD-mount Canon T90. Wonder if this works there? After looking for the first time in a long time, found this for the T90 Edited January 11, 2021 by JDMvW
alfonsomartinez
I know what you mean...waited more than a year to locate a GR-E1 grip on the marketplace sites. Got lucky last week since I did weekly checks. It replaced the Power Drive Booster E1 that was missing its battery cartridge, which seems to be harder to locate than the grip. Now I am happy two two grips and two good PB-E1s for both of my Canon EOS 1s. Edited January 27, 2021 by alfonsomartinez
mike_sowsun
Yes, the the BM-E1 and BM-E2 battery magazines are also hard to find. I think it is because people leave them sitting around for months, and then the alkaline batteries leak, and the resulting corrosion damages the contacts. mike_sowsun
How much did you pay for the GR-E1? I found the prices to be crazy? My GR-E1 doesn't have the little grey tab at the top. It is the only one I have seen like this and at first I thought maybe the tab just fell off. But upon closer inspection I can see there is a design change and the grey tab version is quite different because there is a slot where it attaches, to allow the side to side movement. The grey tab does seem to make it easier to flip out the battery. The GR-E2 is quite different because it has a door which completely enclosed the 2CR5 battery. alfonsomartinez
Neither one of my GR-E1s have the grey tab. The one that I recently bought was NOS where I paid $78.99+tax (plus S/H). I think...not too bad for a unused one.

There was a store in the UK that had the BM-E1 in stock just before Covid-19 pandemic made a mess of things. I inquired about it around last August (I think) and they were out of stock then--I should have ordered it when I saw it. Hence, the hard lesson I learnt. {If I see one that is hard to locate and scarce and I find one--I JUMP on it immediately (if reasonably priced)}.
