Just an intro. This image is about 4 years old, Mamiya RB Pro-s on Polaroid 665. The RB gives a really big 8x8cm image on Polaroid, I kinda miss it, now that I've got a dinky little 'blad.

I left the frame line on 'cause it's late and I don't know what I'm doin' with this html stuff.
Fer instance how do you know the 139x138 dimension stuff and (I'm about to find out) is it critical? Here goes...

You prob'ly knew I'd just love that colour tom....

...and good question: he's obviously 'nude' to some extent, even if

it is an illusion, but I wouldn't personally consider this 'nude'. I

think what I mean by nude is European fashion spreads, non-sexual art

nudes (Mapplethorpe is generally, to me, 'non-sexual'--generally), if

that helps, and does anyone remember that Playboy spread of Shannen

Doherty? That would be fine here. Generally, Playboy's celebrity shots

are OK; Penthouse, on the otherhand, is almost always about sex (I'm

just trying to create/show some kind of scale here, since I know

everyone has a different idea of where lines should be drawn...).

Nice photo tom; will you feed my neurosis and tell me something about

the light?

Hey Shawn, I was really just rambling, I didn't think he'd qualify as

naked. Well, a Senator in South Carolina might think so...

As for the light, it's just a 3x4' soft box right over me, angled

down at him. He worked at a lab I use. One day he got this hair cut

and that whorl and widows peak showed up so I asked if I could

photograph him. As an interesting aside, he had just graduated from

Art School with a Bachelors Degree (Photo) and worked at the lab (no

foolin') as a janitor... ouch... I haven't talked with him in years

but last I heard, he's completely out of the creative endeavors... t

yeah, I knew you knew (you know)? I just put that up to try and hone

the rules for others, or maybe more for myself, who knows. anyways I'm

not gonna get neurotic over worries about porn. i'm actually kinda

bummed out i got home from work and i didn't see any nudes at all. my

portfolio should be on cd tomorrow, and i have one nude i'd love to

get an opinion on, kinda Christ as a Woman sorta kinda maybe and

neked. shawn

Todd, strip clubs (and no I've never done this but I worked in labs

for a lot of years and from what I've heard that seems to be the

hunting ground for willing subjects....to tell the truth I've never

shot a nude, hmmm? I wonder why? am I repressed? I've been asked to

do it but I always declined) and tell em you'll give em' some

enlargements in trade...eeew! that didn't come out right.

Trip,

I did a lot of nude photography in the 1980's...I had a friend who

belonged to the Lupin Nature Club in the hills above Saratoga CA, and

he was able to get a steady stream of models. They would pose just

for a few prints...very exhibitionist. I've lost contact with him,

however. I'm not sure I have the courage to approach strippers.

They might misunderstand my intentions. Also, I'm a public school

teacher and I think it best to wait until I retire in two years, if

you get my drift. In the 80's, people were a bit more liberal about

such things. Figure photography is fun and challenging. Best to do

it with a small group! Less chance of being accused of something.
