movingfinger
This article has some really nice BW action photography. I don't guess one's equipment lasts very long in this environment however. I'd like to give it a try though. What about you, would you give this sort of photography a go? mikemorrell
Definitely! I suspect that many of the photos were taken from a 'safe' position with tele-lenses but it doesn't make them any less exciting. This about as close that I get to 'challenging'.
Rick Helmke
Actually I’ve found it isn’t the equipment that’s at risk as much as it is your body. I’ve been shooting college level sports since Charles Barkley had hair and never had any equipment damage. On the other hand Barkley landed on the photographer sitting next to me one night. She weighed maybe 100 pounds soaking wet and had to be carried out on a stretcher. She lived, we are friends on FB now. Rick H.
Glenn McCreery
Although most surf photography is done standing on the beach with a telephoto lens (that's how I do it), the best surf photographs are obtained when the photographer is in the ocean and close to the action, putting both the photographer and their equipment at risk.. Here is a previous post on one of the best ever surfing photographs, The story behind one of the best-ever surfing photographs Edited December 26, 2020 by Glenn McCreery
