Peak Design Tripod

Has anyone had nay experience with this tripod, especially with larger lenses and a DSLR?

You'd even consider that spindly 5 section leg design at that price?

And with a fixed ballhead that looks fit to wobble in a light breeze?

 

I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but you can surely see flimsy engineering a mile off.

Yes. I was mislead by a dealer's ad that was selling the aluminium version, but showing pictures of the CF one.

 

That doesn't alter the fact that the thing looks like it's built to collapse at a sneeze. And I can't believe the thin neck on that ballhead.

Dpreview suggested the Manfrotto equivalent was better. My reaction to most things Peak is that they are 50% more hype than anything. Not bad, but not worth getting excited about

That floppy ballhead and the price are sufficient to scare me off. Despite the quite positive reviews about the tripods stability. I tried a highly recommended 5-section Sirui travel tripod once and send it back the very next day.
