andrewbonner
I recently found my mum's old Canon EOS 1000FN, and figured it would be a good camera to use as a relative beginner and hopefully learn a bit more about photography. I have replaced the battery however the camera seems to be dead, there's nothing showing on the LCD screen. I fear having the old battery in for the last 20 years without use may have killed it. Everything else on the camera such as the lens, shutter, and mirrors seem to be in really good condition. Is there any way I can revive it? As a side note if I can get it working, it has the original 35-80mm lens that it came with, however I was wondering if there are any better cheap-ish lenses I should upgrade to, or if that is fine to start out with. JDMvW
This is in America, a Rebel 2s Canon EOS 1000FN / Rebel S II AF- SLR Camera - Index Page The camera is now selling for as little as US$30 on eBay, sometimes with the lens. You couldn't have someone else repair yours for that price. For that matter, the lens is not a fan-boy treasure, but it will be perfectly adequate if you can get the camera working. John Seaman
Apart from making sure the battery contacts are clean, there's nothing you can do.
