DavidTriplett
Basic Guidelines: In the strictest sense, nature photography should not include "hand of man elements". Please refrain from images with buildings or human made structures like roads, fences, walls. Pets are not permitted. Captive subjects in zoos, arboretums, or aquariums are permitted, but must be declared, and must focus on the subject, not the captivity. Images with obvious human made elements will likely be deleted from the thread, with an explanation to the photographer. Guidelines are based on PSA rules governing Nature photography which also cover the Nature Forum. Keep your image at/under 1000 pixels on the long axis for in-line viewing. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site at Flicker, Photobucket, your own site, etc. Each member please post no more than just one image to this weekly thread per week. Here's another from our 2014 trip to the Northern California coast, in and around Fort Bragg. There was a colony of sea lions sunning on some rocks just off the point. This one decided it was time to slide off and back into the water.

Laura Weishaupt
I've been culling images from the last few years. It seems like a popular past time now. I was out on a bird photography trip and while the birds didn't cooperate, the bugs and water did.

DavidTriplett
Call it some flavor of pinniped. OK, the jury is in. This is a harbor seal, NOT a sea lion. @Sanford , thank you for the correction!

Mary Doo
Sad news that is relevant to this Nature Forum: Dan Charnonnet III, who developed the PSA definition of nature and wildlife photography, has passed away. I will always remember his immense knowledge of photography and his quick smile and hearty laugh.
ShunCheung
OK, the jury is in. This is a harbor seal, NOT a sea lion. @Sanford , thank you for the correction! These are sea lions, at a dock in Moss Landing back in 2009, also along the California coast. That dock has since been damaged, probably by the weight of the sea lions. They have no concept of social distancing. o_O
