v.stiles
I've had this lens for about 10 years. She's clunky and heavy, and until I switched to Nikon I found the lens performed in the 'meh' field. Shot Pentax for 20+ years and I had the adapter for it, but the extra piece of glass just muddied the images. First thing I did when the new Nikon arrived, I grabbed this lens and went outback to see what I could see. Both images shot @ F 1.4 Thanks for looking. rodeo_joe1
Since when did Nikon make a 90mm f/1.4 Micro-Nikkor? Are you sure it's not a 90mm f/2.5 Vivitar or Tamron in Nikon fit? I had the adapter for it, but the extra piece of glass just muddied the images. Naturally.
jose_angel
A 90mm f1.4 Micro-Nikkor would be worth a fortune! :p
v.stiles
oh geez, my correction. The 50mm Nikkor I have is 1.4. Sorry about that. The macro lens is 2.
Dieter Schaefer
I'm confused - when did Nikon make a 90mm macro lens. Or any 90mm lens for that matter - other than one for large format?
William Michael
I'm confused - when did Nikon make a 90mm macro lens. Or any 90mm lens for that matter - other than one for large format? F/4.5 and F/8 versions, I think. It is probably a Third party lens with Nikon Mount, as rodeojoe has mentioned. WW
glen_h
Sometimes people post images made with a camera or lens, some post a picture of the camera or lens, and some both. -- glen
rodeo_joe1
Whatever the lens used - we might never know - I like the first picture. The composition is much stronger than the second.
John Seaman
Seems like the lens has a 6 blade aperture. Nikkors are usually 7.
BeBu Lamar
Vivitar used to make 90mm macro for different mounts but I never know of a 90mm Nikkor micro or not. Not even enlarging lens.
rodeo_joe1
Seems like the lens has a 6 blade aperture. Nikkors are usually 7. Hmmm. By my count the first picture shows hexagonal bokeh, and the second one has heptagonal OOF blurs. This gets weirder.
JDMvW
This gets weirder. And how. In my experience, the older Nikkor Macro/Micro lenses I've got were 105mm. Tamron, of course, makes various versions of a 90mm macro f/2.8.
Monophoto
In the late 1970's or early 1980's, Nikon also made a 100mm lens that would work quite well as a macro lens when coupled with extension tubes. It was a less-expensive 'E series' lens that proved to have been a mistake - because if worked much better than cheap lenses were supposed to!
