Moving On
I looked at an Amedeo before I decided on the S3. Until now I’ve always rotated multiple lenses on a single body. I expect that I will do the opposite at some point if that Nikon S lens turns out to be as good as some say. Best to always keep the options open.... glen_h
I have a Canon IID2, bought from Goodwill with no CLA. As well as I can tell, it works fine. The shutter speeds might be a little off, but not so far. The Canon P is one of the better values in used LTM cameras, other than the Soviet models. -- glen
carbon_dragon
What is your budget? You can spend very little, or quite a lot, or anything in between. Just to experiment without spending much money? This was my actual first camera period (and first rangefinder too). Great fixed lens, but no meter. Good rangefinder too. The Konica I. Pretty dirt simple. An old Leica M2 or M3 with a vintage lens, say the 50/2 collapsable summicron is relatively cheap. And as users the Canon rangefinders like the P and the 7 are really nice machines for using if you can get one in good condition. Don't know anything about the S3 except that it's quite attractive. It's essentially a cross between a Contax II and a Leica. It looks like a Contax and the lenses are similar (though not totally compatible) and the internals are more leica like (which is a good thing really). Likely to be pricey because I think Nikon rangefinders tend to be pretty collectable. http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4100/4820775582_737764e616.jpg

Moving On
Thanks. The only drawback is when I wake up in the morning the lens has left an imprint in my cheek.....
kivis
Ya, I had that happen, too. Buying a S3 2000 this week with the kit 50/1.4 lens. I am excited as of all my Nikon and Leica cameras I have and still have, never have I owned a Nikon Rangefinder. kivis Cameras, lenses, and fotos
JDMvW
It only takes a minute, but we all forget to do it -- check the date, this one is from 2018. Moving On, has no doubt moved on since he got his heart's desire;)
Niels - NHSN
Or, we can isolate the entusiasm into one thread. What’s wrong with that? Ignore and move on if not interested. Niels
JDMvW
What’s wrong with that? Well, for one thing it clutters up the site. Makes new information harder to find. People waste time answering questions again that were long settled... I put in a "wink" = why so serious?
Niels - NHSN
Well, for one thing it clutters up the site. Makes new information harder to find. People waste time answering questions again that were long settled... I put in a "wink" = why so serious? IMO Extending existing threads of a relevant subject does the opposite: collects related information in existing threads which improves continuity and reduce clutter. And seriously, how much new information is posted on photo.net? Especially in this case - 20 years old re-releases of cameras 60+ years old? And I didn't know that "wink" meant that you are not serious, then why do you post? Niels
JDMvW
And I didn't know that "wink" meant that you are not serious, then why do you post? You don't know what a wink is? Interesting. And seriously, how much new information is posted on photo.net? "Ignore and move on if not interested." some person said earlier.
c_watson1
PN needs a new forum("The Crypt" or "The Morgue")where these zombie threads can be fully enjoyed by anyone aching to contribute or to spout OT noise removed from more relevant/current discussions. JDMvW
One thing that might help would be to make the default view with the most recent post at the top, others going back in time...

panos_k.
I circle back from time to time.....Taking time to run some film through that camera again lately. Hi, I’m wondering if you’re still enjoying your S3? Have you regretted not getting a Leica?
Moving On
No regrets at all. I liked the idea of reliability with less likelihood of needing special attention on the front end.
