While these are far from cheap, and I would love to own one, I felt a "Tribute" to the Contax S from East German VEB Zeiss Ikon in 1949, might take some of the design cues from that era. All they did was essentially make or adapt a modern SLR with the implied "no battery needed" as a guideline..and then they put a battery and a meter in, anyway?
