Post Processing Challenge November 14, 2020

Recommended Posts

There are no rules as to how you apply your post processing to this image; but, please let us know what you have done so we can all learn.

If you would like to post a candidate image next week, please ensure it is of sufficiently high resolution for manipulation by the participants (3000px on the long side, 300dpi for example).

Most of all, let's have fun while we are learning or demonstrating how we use our post-processing software, imaginations and interpretations.

Cattle and dandelions.

I played around with the new Photoshop 2021 features for this and it was ridiculously easy:

- used the new 'neural filters' feature to transfer one of the built-in ''styles" to the photo (the golden yellow effect)

- chose one of the skies under the "replace sky" feature (which somehow also included the rock :))

- added some HPF sharpening and contrast

I used half a dozen "content aware fill" selections in Photoshop CC to remove the buildings and fence. I tried "magic wand" to select the sky, but there were too many blank area shining through the tree limbs. I had better luck using Topaz Remask5 for sky selection, which I replaced with one of my cloudy sky photos. I blended the cloudy sky layer with the background image (in "multiply" mode) to give the appearance of a partly shaded field. Finally, I sharpened foreground areas, but not the clouds.
