You are invited to upload one or more of your landscape photos and, if you’d like, to accompany your image with some commentary: challenges you faced in making the image? your intent for the image? settings? post-processing decisions? why you did what you did? the place and time? or an aspect you’d like feedback on? And please feel free to ask questions of others who have posted images or to join the discussion. If you don’t feel like using words, that’s OK too—unaccompanied images (or unaccompanied words, for that matter) are also very much welcomed. As for the technicalities, the usual forum guidelines apply: files < 1 MB; image size <1000 px maximum dimension.

I spent most of my time that morning making long-exposure images of waterfalls to turn the water into a blur. I couldn't bring myself to do that to the waves--there was just too much intriguing detail.

This is a case of color looking like black and white. I have no idea what this actually is, so anyone with a clue, please chime in. This was taken on the basalt terraces in Yachats, OR. In many places the rich black basalt has a white coating that gives the rock a silvery sheen. Some of it had an almost slick feel similar to talc. I don't know if this is organic or some kind of chemical weathering, or something else. I didn't see any of this on the pillow basalt north of town. Whatever it is, it is striking in appearance to me and I was lucky to find a large area without bird poo.
