While images posted to this thread should still be nature in theme, it may contain a small amount of human-made objects and therefore less restricted than the Monday in Nature threads. Please see this discussion for more details: Alternative weekly thread in Nature forum Each participant please post no more than just one image per weekly thread. Since I'm not getting out much in these days of Covid-19, I'm going back and pulling out some older images to share. This one is from four years ago, captured while driving through Yellowstone National Park. Today I wish I had my D810 + Nikkor 200-500mm/5.6, but that's water under the bridge... The Tammy has a weird OOF effect of going double vision instead of simply blurry. It's sharp enough in focus, but that double vision thing is distracting. Thank you, David. The Tamron 150-600, eh? Both you and Bill Boyd seem to get great pictures of Owls with that lens. I messaged Bill about that lens last year. I was considering purchasing it, but chickened out at the last minute. I have had a chance to test it and the Nikon 200-500 on my D750. I liked the Tamron slightly better than the Nikon. I know I like Tamron Support much better than Nikon Support. I have three other Tamron lenses - the 24-70 f/2.8 G2, the 90mm f/2.8 Macro, and the 70-200 f/2.8 A009 (pre-G2). I thought the 24-70 and the 70-200 were a bit soft on my D750. I had the TAP-IN console, it came with the 24-70 on offer from B&H, but I was going blind staring at the computer screen trying to adjust the focus at 24mm at a range of 5 meters. Of course the TAP-IN does not support the 70-200 I have. When I asked the Tamron representative how she adjusted the focus on her lenses, she just laughed and said, "Send the lenses and camera to Tamron. Adjustment is covered on the six year warranty." I sent them all three lenses (asking for a check on the 90mm) and camera. I had to pay shipping to them - California to Long Island, NY - so I sent it FedEx ground. They turned the lenses around in two days and returned them to me via FedEx Three Day Air at their expense. The lenses have been spot on ever since. None of the Nikon nonsense of "It meets OUR spec." (I suspect the 90mm was In Spec, but they tweaked it just the same) or "Impact damage." Just great service. So if the IQ is very close, as it is between the Tamron 150-600 and the Nikon 200-500 IMHO, I'll go with Tamron every time. With any luck, the lens will go back on sale at BH with the B+W filter included and I will NOT chicken out this time. I understand the 2nd gen are better than the first. The Tammy was actually quite good enough on my 16 Mp D5100, but it's vagaries became ever more apparent when I moved to the 24 Mp D7100, and then the 36 Mp D810. I haven't looked back since moving to the Nikkor 200-500mm/5.6. I see there are many others here on PNet who also like this lens and obtain excellent results.
