Interesting upcoming auction.

Recommended Posts

Flints Auctioneers Ltd, have an upcoming auction next month of scientific instruments, cameras and other photographica to drool over.

Some of the estimated prices appear wildly optimistic to me - considering that another 1/3rd has to be added to the hammer-price. Even so, there's some nice eye candy for the camera lover.

Where else are you going to find a Linhof TLR?

Camera lots start at #95 BTW.

Seems like every remaining Rolleiflex TLR is on sale :D

Not every one.

I passed on an early deckle-finish 'flex at a local auction a few months ago. It was in an awful condition with very cloudy lenses and went for £40, which I thought was about twice what it was worth.

I liked the Leica Left Handed Release - a snip at £600-£800

Plus 35% buyer's commission and tax remember!

That would be a deal breaker for me.

Where did all that stuff come from, I wonder.

I don't know, but I'm tempted to enter my old Retina IIa with Good-- f/2 Xenon lens and slightly tatty leather finish for, ooh, say a reserve of £850.

Or for a trivial £1,200 you could tempt me to part with my quarter-plate Thornton-Pickard Junior Special - complete with Dallmeyer 12" Popular Telephoto lens.

I've even got a battered old Aldis 6" anastigmat in scratched brass mount knocking about somewhere. That ought to fetch at least another couple of grand.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the anonymous wooden box with small brass tubed-loupe stuck in the front at only 30,000 quid yet. Total bargain!

107 would be fun to have. Be fun to do a replica of the 250 gg

I don't fancy knob-winding 250 exposures.... nor forking out for the 17m refills.

At about 2 FPS, it'd take only 4 minutes or so - and a lot of wrist ache - to swallow 45 quids worth of film. Then you have to find a darkroom to reload unless it comes with a spare back.

The clockwork-winder Leningrad that I once owned could swallow film at an alarming rate. Unintentional duplicate or triplicate frames are definitely not fun!
