Weird adapters, like T-mount, but 46mm screw thread?

Hi photonetters. This has been sort of asked before, in this

thread, but it didn't get a satisfactory answer.
What type of adapter is

this, that has a camera body (male) fitting on one side, and a 46mm (female)

screw thread on the other side?
I have a bunch of these, mostly Minolta

fitting, that came with a lot of old photographic junk. They look like T2

adapters, in that there's a central ring insert fixed by three little grub

screws. However, the female thread is 46mm instead of 42mm, which is what a T

adapter should be.
What the heck are these things? It's a long time since

I've used any kind of T adapter, so enlighten me.

It's an adapter for a Mirax Laborc lens. They were made by Miranda as medical kind of camera. However, I'm pretty sure there was only one lens ever made in the 46mm mount, a 52mm f/2.8? macro lens. Plus, the register distance was far smaller than any Minolta, so the lens couldn't be used as anything but a macro lens. Its rather strange that there would be a bunch of them, I'm not sure why someone would even bother making adapters.

Ed, adaptall is a bayonet mount.

Misprint in above post. I meant that it has 46 mm. threads, not 42. In other words, this is indeed a lens appearing to be just like a T-mount lens, except that the threaded end is larger, and the adapter looks just like a T-mount adapter, except that its threads are 46 rather than 42. I can find nothing on other web pages referring to this system and who other than Hanimex might have used it. It's pretty clear, though, that at least one manufacturer made lenses with this type of interchangeable mount.

Hi-- thanks for all your answers. The possible Miranda connection is interesting, because some Miranda adapters came in the same lot of junk. These look more like some kind of universal adapter, though, like Matthew said-- just like a T mount, but with a bigger hole.

Who knows. Thanks again.

Dave, do you still have any of these Mirax/Miranda parts or 46mm adapters? I’d love to see them - I’m looking for one which sounds like what you’re describing!

everandoak, hi. I'll look around for them, but it might not be right away because I'm in a busy period.

I have a bunch of big Rubbermaid bins full of photographic junk. They may be in there somewhere and I don't recall getting rid of them. I'll let you know if they turn up.
