No left handed cameras? Non serious topic.

Think how Jimi Hendrix felt?

Even zipper flies on pants are made for easier access by righties, as getting past the flap can only be done from the right. Makes it especially difficult for lefty guys to sext!

I heard Hendrix had a few left-handed guitars. He said he didn't feel right playing them.

I'm of the opinion that cameras, certainly in the pre-autofocus era, were two-handed tools. Most 35mm format cameras place the shutter dial and release on the right because they copied the mechanics of the Leica, focus and aperture on the left and you really need to hold it with both hands.

The Exakta developed more or less at the same time as the Leica, so they solved things their own way.

Zeiss tried to make the Contax shootable with one (right) hand, but I always felt that Contax ergonomics were a case of 'the user must conform to the (perfect) machine'.

You still need both hands for a steady shot. It's only since autofocus that the left hand has been relegated to a supporting role.

I am left eyed and right handed, and that has definitely influenced my choice of cameras over the years. When I bought my first serious camera in the late 1970's, I didn't buy a Nikon because the ones that I tried used the winding lever as the meter switch and that poked my right eye.

https://www.35mmc.com/14/01/2014/fuji-zoom-date-2-8-silvi-review/

My Fuji Silvi has shutter release buttons on both sides and can be used left handed.

But actually the intention of the L/H button is to enable right handed users to take selfies.

It's for people who are very good looking rather than left handed.

Would that it were only good-looking people that took selfies (sigh) ... :(

I heard he mostly chose to play right-handed guitars because the bridge pickup of the Stratocaster (his guitar model of choice) is tilted so that it is closer to the neck under the thicker strings when the strings are attached in their intended positions. The left-handed version of the Stratocaster has the tilt reversed, since the strings are meant to be "upside down" for left-handed playing, but he preferred the tone when the strings were reversed on the right-handed guitar. I highly doubt most people could tell the difference, but most people are not Jimi Hendrix.

One infamous photo blogger who shall not be named claims to have had a left-handed custom Nikon F100. There's even a picture of him using it on his home page. He was probably just bored and made it all up for the heck of it.

In airplanes, the thrust levers are between the two seats, so the pilot on the left has to operate the flight controls with their left hand, while the one on the right has to use the right hand when they are flying. It takes a few hours of getting used to when switching seats for the first time, after that both feel equally comfortable.
