Mom and Farm, 1985.

Just after my grandfather’s funeral in 1985, visiting cousin Julie asked me, a Minolta user, to make pictures of the family with her camera. Because of my lack of familiarity with her Canon, I unknowingly set the camera to double exposure as I made the image of my mother, who loved my grandfather. Julie without knowing it completed the double exposure with a picture of a farm she saw as she returned home. Weeks later Julie sent this picture framed.

I think Sergei Eisenstein would appreciate the accident.[/quote

powerful read . thank you

The last photo of my mother and I together. Blackwater Falls, West Virginia. Sept 2017. We were talking one day and she said she had not been to Blackwater Falls for 50 years. I decided to take the day off work and we drove over and walked down to the falls (over 100 steps, and she was 85 - no problem.) I set up this photo on the tripod.

Just a few weeks later, she was feeling ill and found out she had terminal pancreatic cancer. She died 5 weeks later. I have this photo up on the shelf.
