Canon USA website down, ransomware and data stolen

I read that Canon USA website was hit by a ransomeware attack and is down and a lot of data stolen. Going to the site now says they are updating their site. There are links to their Forum and Store.

I wonder if stolen data includes usernames and customer personal info and credit cards?

All in time for the new Canon R5 and R6 too.

Cheers, Mark

Wonder if folks will get their R5s shipped. They have to have it backed up at some time before the encryption. I wonder about the latest downloads we got from them with the Canon Webinar software, are we at risk if we downloaded their software? My Norton isn't finding any virus. Edited by Mark Keefer

My experience in IT is that 1) Companies are loath to spend to protect their data and networks and, 2) They generally think that they are too smart to be compromised. What other reason could there be that we still read about these hacking events? After all hacking has been around almost forever. I caught a hacker in 1978 red handed with a recording of their hacking session.
