Mourning is absolute.

I agree with @William Michael. It's wonderful to see a 'concept' translated into a photo. I really like the background! It's a perfect 'still life' as it is

Just a minor point: I did wonder if the 'structure' of the white roses could be slightly 'enhanced' in some way. Just to draw more attention to them. It doesn't make a great deal of difference to the photo as a whole except when viewed really large. A HPF + medium contrast. masked just on the roses does bring out the structure a bit more/

Congrats on a fine photo!

I think the overall mood and tonality suggests mourning and is well accomplished.

I can’t help but focus on the obvious/explicit relationship between dead flowers and mourning. That distracts me. The mood is not Hallmark, but the flowers are.

The containers don’t do much for me, though if accompanied by others that had more visual presence, the crystal vase would work.

As a more personal matter, I wonder about some kind of asymmetry. Death and mourning suggest (to me) some disharmony even as it can be felt as a final resolution, and the almost perfect arrangement of threes has a kind of visual steadiness that makes me want some sort of more passionate force being offered as an offset.

Without the title, I wouldn't have "gotten it." Knowing that, I love the dark "mourning drape" over a chair and the flowers that inevitably die during mourning. I think that the variety of vases speaks to how we mourn in different ways.

I think that for some, using a Trilogy of (vastly) different vases, (colours, styles, expense, shapes etc.) will strike many notes, and on a multiplicity of levels.

The leafless third rose is symbolic, too.

Maybe the symbolism was not purposefuly contrived by the Photographer - but I think it would appear obvious to some.

Thank you everybody for your opinion and personal interpretation.

My idea was to use the head down flowers as representation of the mourning and vases were symbolizing the different socioeconomic status of mourners. I placed vases to avoid any type of progression and moved the plastic bottle a little forward to balance more fancy vases.

This photo was intentionally taken on overcast day to avoid burning of white roses and I still have problem of preserving the texture of the background on FP4+. Perhaps, my monitor needs some adjustment too.

Cheers.
