DavidTriplett
This is the additional weekly image thread for the Nature Forum. While images posted to this thread should still be nature in theme, it may contain a small amount of human-made objects and therefore less restricted than the Monday in Nature threads. Please see this discussion for more details: Alternative weekly thread in Nature forum Each participant please post no more than just one image per weekly thread. So this one's doing double duty, as it was also posted in the "Light Blue" thread over on No Words. My apologies, but poor internet tonight and no time to process another.

bgelfand
Scrub Jay Looking Around How did you get tis shot? I wasn't sure whether to tag it "Like" or start a new category, "Disturbed" :-) . The headless Jay. The image certainly got my attention. Great shot.
Sanford
Thanks, looked it up. Panasonic GX1, 45mm, F5.6, 1/100, ISO 640. I usually use these cameras in P mode so the camera picked too slow a shutter speed for the spinning head. It must have been fairly dim light to use that high ISO.

With a 90mm equivalent lens (short telephoto), I am amazed you could get that close to the bird, and not only close but above the bird, without it flying off. Great shot!
Sanford
Thanks, probably cropped a lot. Scrub Jays are fairly tame. This woman likes to put peanuts on her hat. She claims they burry the peanuts to attract worms and eat the worms. I don't know about that but you don't dare call them Bluebirds in her presence.
