Lightroom imports

Greetings Folks-

I was using LR for years on a mac. Now I have a new version of LR for PC. I imported a bunch of jpgs at 3-5 mb per image. With minor adjustments and exporting at "100%" on the slider, exported images are 2-300 kb.

Are there import settings as well as export settings?

Images aren't changed when imported, in fact they're not imported at all. Lightroom points to where the images are located and saves certain information about them in sidecar files, including previews, You also have the option of making copies in to a designated location.

Exporting is different. images are exported as copies, real discrete files, and you have full control over the size, format and location of the results. When you export using the Lightroom command, you open a dialog box. Scroll down in that box to see all of the options at your command. If establish named export options, you can right-click on an image and select one of those named options without opening a dialog box.
