You are invited to upload one or more of your landscape photos and, if you’d like, to accompany your image with some commentary: challenges you faced in making the image? your intent for the image? settings? post-processing decisions? why you did what you did? the place and time? or an aspect you’d like feedback on? And please feel free to ask questions of others who have posted images or to join the discussion. If you don’t feel like using words, that’s OK too—unaccompanied images (or unaccompanied words, for that matter) are also very much welcomed. As for the technicalities, the usual forum guidelines apply: files < 1 MB; image size <1000 px maximum dimension.

To cast a positive spin on the situation, I'm having a chance to spend some quality time with my archives...

I went to the vernal pond in the back yard yesterday. It hasn't been dry for 2 years, but the water level is down. Wood ducks and mallards are regular visitors. The first round of photographs were unsatisfying, as if I hadn't gotten the point of being out there. The world feels upside down, so I started looking at the pond from that perspective. Some clouds came in and I started playing with the polarizer. Things got interesting and I decided to frame all the shots with inverting them in mind. Some have a sinister look. Others look fine, but a closer look reveals something not quite right....much like our corner of the world.

Leslie, the geometry throughout this image is what drew me in. Think I'll stay awhile.

One more. . .

Thanks, Michael!

And to bring it full circle, since this image is all about texture and composition I was treating it as an abstract, and I had your abstract images in mind as I was processing it.

Leslie, we could make this into a mutual admiration society, but I don't want to insult you! I'm grateful for your recognition of my abstract work. FYI, I've been experimenting a lot recently with a variety of styles.
