samstevens
I photograph therefore I am. Another Descartes quote: One cannot conceive anything so strange and so implausible that it has not already been said by one philosopher or another And another reason to make photos. :) "You talkin' to me?" AlanKlein
Why hide your photographs? Making an enlargement of your kids, framing it and giving it to their grandparents would thrill them. And you too. It doesn;t have to be an either or situation. You can have your cake and eat it too. (Some philosopher said that.) :) Flickr gallery: https://www.flickr.com/photos/alanklein2000/albums

markwyatt
I have been showing a lot of my pictures on Flickr and some photo forums. I like sharing ideas, and promoting photography. I do not put up full resolution, but enough that others can enjoy the pictures. As well, I do state my copyrights. If not for Flickr and the internet, probably 5-10 people would occasionally see some of my work. That may or may not be a big deal, but I like the idea of a photography community ( that is why some of us join these forums).
pat_parson
Ok, so when I told my wife about this posting she did not get it. I told that's the story of my life; most people don't. What I really wanted to discuss is whether you think it is worthwhile to take photos if nobody else sees them? That is not to say we should derive pleasure from our own work. But, is that the end game? Are we not looking for some validation from other people? And for some, in the form of monetary compensation? If you want to be a great photographer, you need to make images that appeal to you. And be ruthlessly critical of how well they please you. Otherwise, you'll just be learning to copy someone else. Then, maybe, others will find your images interesting.
kartidaanik
Taking photos, good photos, requires practice as everything else. You can keep it to yourself, but an outside perspective usually helps to find out what requires to be worked on. There are lots of sites where you can show your works, most of them are free. Why not then?
httpwww.photo.netbarry
Whether there is new color or not, I will say that Eggalston created a color palette photographically that was new in that genre.
httpwww.photo.netbarry
I've never tried the Dye Transfer Process that he used. I had a teacher who did and he described and its very involved, more like lithographic process in a way with color separation etc. Hey but next best thing. Here's a pic of the man himself and LACMA when he had his outstanding exhibition a few years ago. I'm a big fan of his work. httpwww.photo.netbarry
Yep. She was his minder. She didn't say anything though. I just took a couple of pics and we had bought a book. He didn't say much of anything the whole time he was there. The exhibit was amazing though.
