movingfinger
Singer, songwriter, actor Kenny Rogers, who passed away very recently, was an avid amateur photographer. There is a nice article about this additional talent of his here in this Guardian article. The few photos shown there are very good.
mikemorrell
Thanks for this! I had no idea that Kenny Rogers was a photographer. I didn't much like his music but your link helped me learn much more about the real person rather than just the 'name'. I like his photos too. Rick Helmke
Interesting, I knew Leonard Nimoy was a serious photographer but not Kenny Rogers. Quite a few years back I was covering I think the Georgia vs Mississippi State football game in Athens Ga. I had lunch in the press box and found myself sitting across from a very attractive lady and a man who looked just like Kenny Rogers. It didn’t occur to me until much later that was exactly who I had lunch with as the last thing I was expecting was a celebrity. They seemed to be quite nice people. Ricochetrider
Nice. I also never knew Kenny Rogers had the talent he did have for photography. Apparently he was super enthusiastic about it- owning and shooting many different cameras including large format. The day after he died, this article, linked below, popped up in the news feed of a photography group I'm a member of on f@c3 b00k, so I shared ti all around. Mr Rogers had the fantastic benefit of studying under quite a few people, and it really does show in his photographs! As a person, he seemed kind and mellow. I worked his shows a few times over the years- mostly Christmas shows he did. He had a great rapport with his audience. They loved him and he clearly loved them back. The backstage vibe in the theaters was very chill when the Kenny Rogers tour crew was in. Kenny Rogers … the photographer
