httpwww.photo.netbarry
M.O. I'm in the same place, someone gave me a banjo and I'm trying to learn how to frail (claw hammer style). Are you scanning these and working in Photoshop? If I could make a suggestion, you might consider gently dodging his face. If in photoshop, try the dodge tool medium range and set it at about 6-8 and gently try bringing it up. It will make his face just a little more present. Just a thought, don't mean to intrude on your process and to me its looking pretty good.
Moving On
Another from the S3 2000 Barry, Thanks for the Photoshop tip. New to me on the film developing and interfacing with the software. I am working on getting a binder built up of bathroom developed negatives and then set about learning more than the simple plugins on the software. Arthur, The meter works and appears, upon casual comparison, to be close to the Luna Pro and the F2 AS meter. I think it belonged to a doctor who seldom if ever used it. Being indoors with that fluorescent light was a little different with the Retina meter. I'm really just now getting a chance to get a feel for the two rangefinders. arthur_mcculloch2
Arthur, I haven't seen a lot of U.S. news reports lately on the fire situation in Oz. How's it going down there? Sorry for the late reply. We had fires here, but Jan and I live in town, so other than smoke and the general disarray, no dramas. We 'hospiced' a couple of families, and did some volunteer work up at the show ground, the evacuation centre. All over here. And for us, it was early. The wash up is a different issue. The fires down on the south coast were far more severe. The long term damage and recovery will take some time, probably years, if not decades. Add insult to injury, we were flooded weekend before last. The fires seem over now. Dorothea McKellar's poem springs to mind: My Country Poem by Dorothea Mackeller - Poem Hunter. Her beauty and her terror. Regards, Arthur (apiarist1)

JDMvW
Tell me about this JDW. Grain I get. There's a fair bit - hard to miss. Tell me more I was trying to make an old-timey soft focus image of the campus lake. The effect was not exactly what I wanted, so I Photoshop posterized the image to create planes rather than texture, per se. Then I blasted it with the grain routine. I didn't really get the pictorialist "naturalistic" (as per Emerson) look but it was heading in that direction in my continued manipulation of the image. Moving On
Pulled another roll that was in the bottom of the bag from about a year ago. TMAX 100 from the S3. These were hand held and the light not so good. One year before the above photos. Time Flies.....
christopher_a._junker1
Nice shot. Was your lens wide open when you took this as the lettering is very crisp but his face is softer. It sort of looks like a "man cave", neat.
Moving On
Wide open and I was, and still am, getting used to focusing the rangefinder. The place is unique. I can do better, and this place is going to be a good “lab”.
