We are going thru here in my area of Oz a bit of a debate around masculinist/militarist representation, following a very tragic domestic violence incident - your images resonate. arthur_mcculloch2
My shots ( I have not been able to finish the film in my recently acquired Prominent - to come). But a very few shots of a dinner Jan (my wife), Shawn (my step son), and I attended last night - in the interest of Wingham's ethnography (it was put on at our local golf club; organised by the local pressies; so churchy, if you get the drift). A dinner with a speaker: The speaker The organiser, the local pressy pastor. I tried to capture a supplicant pose - didn't do well: And an atypical member of the audience (most were, like me, geriatric). He had the misfortune to sit opposite me. The presentation was on (un)forgiveness, based on a particular exegesis of Matthew 18: I think 20 something to 30 something. I kept thinking two things: I wished these people knew greek; and had an idea or two about context. After all that, it was a great night; remarkably provocative; a pleasure to attend. Another piece of the bricolage of Wingham, the mid north coast of NSW, Oz. The photos were from a monochrom (I note that a new, rather more equipped version, with a much higher MP sensor has arrived. At a price). 75mm lens - my go to voigtlander - around f4.5, and 6400 ISO - can't you tell. As well, can't you tell my failing eyesight in focussing. LOL. Look forward to further contributions. The subject matter is inspirational as well. As for the political shots, I expect your focus group could have preempted the sinking of the Arizona had you sold its dogma to Japan in a timely manner. Then so many Masculine American Military types wouldn’t have had to smoke Tojo off of Oz’s ass. The attack of Sidney Harbor is in the past, but perhaps a visit to North Korea is in order. Then to Iran, Somalia, Pakistan, even old Putin himself to administer Toxic Masculinity Abatement Therapy. Please keep us updated on the progress...... I for one would be happy to see Oz lead the way to lasting world peace...... Edited February 21, 2020 by Moving On

Bill Blackwell Images
..I. give my eye teeth for your control of tonal gradation, billblackwellphotography. ...You're always very gracious, Arthur! Truth is, I'm just an average photographer with decent Photoshop skills! As for your shots - I don't comment much, but I very much appreciate your knack for catching faces. They really seem to capture personality; I feel like I know these people! I always look forward to your contributions! In the meantime, it is good to see you engaging here, as I've seen you on other sites. Welcome back, though I don't think you ever left. Yes, taken your message on board. I will look forward to your photos. From memory, you have a nikon rangefinder (one I've lusted after, but that's another story). Keep safe, and thanks. I will leave another photo (I have probably posted this before). And, you have helped me focus - I think I want to try, while I still live, to document the lives of the people I live with. Look forward to your photos. This woman is perpetually positive. I'm sure I've posted a shot of her before. She has a story. We just stand and watch, and seek the light. Moving On
Arthur. Thanks for the thoughtful and considerate reply. We have different political opinions and it is always good to have an opposite pole to check my magnetism against. ;) I enjoy the banter and your facial studies as well. People never fail to make interesting photos if you listen closely and you listen closely. I also enjoy the back stories that lend Color to your excellent Exposures. Still working on the House in Missouri so I haven’t had a hand in a film bag in a while. But that will pick up a bit now and I am looking forward to getting back to getting better with the bathroom processed B&W. Keep up the good work and strong opinions.
