brookebarwick
I have a vivitar series 1 DF-383-NIK external flash. The foot piece is broken. My camera was knocked over and it caused the thin plastic foot to crack. I have been searching for a replacement foot mount, but can't find anything. Vivitar was also no help. Any ideas? I'm new to all of this so any advise is appreciated
dennisbrown
You're probably going to be better off finding a used flash, rather than seeking repairs or trying to adapt another unit's hot shoe. I did a quick check on eBay, and they run anywhere from around $25, up to $60, some with free shipping. The units are no longer in production. rodeo_joe1
How shattered is the hot foot? They usually undo with no more than 4 screws holding them in place. So maybe you can fill the inside of the foot with epoxy glue? Then screw it back after the resin sets. Should be ten times stronger than a thin bit of plastic. If you still need a replacement flash that doesn't cost too much; I recommend looking at YongNuo's range. I've been really impressed with the build quality of their speedlights.
